Can engines and gearboxes be collected?

Yes but please note there are strict guide lines concerning the collection of Engines and Gearboxes. These items have to be pre palletised prior to collection, have all oil and other fluids drained from them. They have to be securely strapped with either banding or ratchet straps. Please see our blog on the safe collection and delivery of Engines.

If fluids are not drained from engines or other parts these can leak during transportation. This can contaminate other freight, trailers and truck beds, but also creates a slip hazard for the courier. This risk will not be taken and you will be required to pay a surcharge for non-collection if your item contains oil and collection is therefore refused.

Many engines are shipped across the country every day, by car breakers, ebay sellers, professional rebuild companies, and many others. Often, they are extremely heavy and bulky items, particularly if gearboxes are attached.

The most reliable and cost effective way of sending an engine across the UK is via our network.  This is by far the cheapest and most reliable method. However, when sending engines there are a few rules that need to be followed in order that your pallet gets there in the safest way (both for the engine, and for the carrier)
